Reading is 60% and English is 30% of the Reading grade.Īccelerated Reader – We are utilizing the Accelerated Reader program this year. Check for understanding by asking your child about their book. Please have your child read at least 20 minutes per night and record it on their reading log. Reading -Our goal in third grade is to improve reading comprehension and fluency as we develop lifelong readers. Students will be working with words as they write. We will not have a spelling test every week. We will be learning spelling patterns as well as remembering the spelling of high frequency words. Spelling is 10% of your child’s language arts grade. Spelling/Word Work -Please look for a copy of the word list in your child’s folder every Monday. Not following expectations may cost them money as well. Big Bucks or Dojo Points can be used for items students may need, buy prizes periodically, or for privileges throughout the school year. Complete silence is expected when an adult enters the room and during announcements.īig Bucks or Dojo Points -We will award students who are following the rules and showing their best effort. The teacher’s desk/area is off limits to students unless you have permission. Say please, thank you, excuse me, yes ma’am, etc. Students will strive to work at their best.Ĭourtesy -Students and teachers will be courteous to one another.
